Traveling To Torrevieja From The Alicante Airport

May 4th, 2009

Torrevieja, Spain is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the province of Alicante. It is about thirty miles south of the city of Alicante within the area of Spain known as the Costa Blanca, or "The White Coast." Torrevieja and Pilar de la Horadada are in the most southern tip of the Alicante province before you enter the province of Murcia. The nearest airport to Torrevieja is the Alicante International Airport, or called the Altet, which is the main airport for this area. It has great flights from all over the world, and especially for those flying in from England. If you were to use car hire services once you arrive at the airport, reaching your hotel or accommodation in Torrevieja should only take you about thirty minutes. The highway N-332 heading south will take you to the city, but if you prefer not to drive there are busses available to take you to Torrevieja as well as other towns and cities. Some hotels even offer an airport pick-up service. Of course, the taxi is always an option if you prefer not to drive yet still want to enjoy the scenery on the way to your hotel.
Leaving Torrevieja on the highway C-332, you will find that you are heading toward the Natural Park of the Lagoons of the Mata. If you want to visit this park, it is highly recommended that you get information and book a date to visit in advance since only thirty-five people are allowed at a time. The most interesting fauna are the birds such as the stone curlew, diving birds, storks, eagles and avocets. Salt baths, which became popular in the 19th century, are another great treat you can partake in while at the park. They are recommended for some illnesses such as arthritis as well as skin diseases.
Though Torrevieja itself has a lot to offer and plenty to do, it is also well worth your time to take an excursion up the Costa Blanca and visit Santa Pola outside of Alicante. You can then travel to Benidorm for a day of theme parks, or to the towns of Altea and Javea. Of course, you cannot miss the beautiful beaches of the Costa Blanca. Enjoy a day soaking up the sun, enjoying the warm water and beautiful surroundings at Torrevieja and so many other cities along Spain's eastern coastline. Make the most of your vacation experience.

Brimming with unbridled energy, this little dynamo in Southeast Asia embodies the finest of both East and West. The Muslim centre of Singapore is a traditional textile district, full of batiks from Indonesia, silks, sarongs and shirts. Add to this mix rosaries, flower essences, hajj caps, songkok hats, basketware and rattan goods, and you have a fair idea of the products haggled over in this part of the city.

The grand Sultan Mosque is the biggest and liveliest mosque in Singapore, but the tiny Malabar Muslim Jama-ath Mosque is the most beautiful. There's fine Indian Muslim food along nearby North Bridge Rd and the foodstalls on Bussorah St are especially atmospheric at dusk during Ramadan.

Traveling To Murcia, Spain

May 4th, 2009

The airport which is closest and most convenient to Murcia, Spain is San Javier airport, about 17 kilometers from the city. The airport has become very busy in the last few years, which means that there is more of a choice of flights to and from Murcia. This airport serves as a military airport, as well as a civilian airport for the region. Because of this, large planes such as the 757 or 767 are able to land on the runways there.
The main reason for the popularity of the Murcia airport is the throngs of visitors who are now frequenting the southern cities of the Costa Blanca, Murcia among them. Tourists who want to visit the popular town of Torrevieja find the l location of San Javier airport more convenient than some of the larger airports.
In addition, this airport is the main hub for visitors to the Costa Calida area. One can travel by train from this region to many areas in Spain, including the popular region of La Manga. There is train service to Madrid which make it convenient to travel to this large metropolitan area.
There are today many discounted flights to the Murcia area, since the European Union deregulated fares a few years ago. Airlines can now set their own airfares and this has encouraged many lost cost carriers to compete in this area. This phenomenon was at first limited to the larger airports, which could support a number of airlines. But as the popularity of the region has grown, the discount airlines are now operating in smaller airports such as Murcia's. This is a major benefit for the budget traveler, since there is now more competition and lower fares, with a wider selection of fares. The largest choice of discount airfares to Murcia are from within Europe, but discount flights from North America do exist, but you may have to look a little harder for them. One of the problems is that a lot of these discount flights are not listed on the large travel sites on the Internet. You have to do a lot of the research yourself, contacting the airlines and then comparing all of the available flights.
This is certainly more work than just letting a website find the cheapest airfare among the major airlines, but if you have the time and patience for it, you will be rewarded by saving a lot of money. Since discount airlines do not have direct flights from cities in North America, you will have to make at least one, and probably more than one connecting flight. Make sure you take this into account when reserving flights and leave ample time for connections. You will definitely save money on a discount flight, but you have to keep in mind that you will not have the convinces and amenities that larger airlines offer. For instance, a large airline will through check your baggage to your connecting flight, but with a discount airline, you will have to pick up your baggage and recheck it on the next flight. Waiting for baggage can be time consuming, so it is another thing that you have to make an allowance for. The time of day you fly can make a difference in the price of your airline ticket. Many times, very early morning flights are among the cheapest. Also, the day of the week you travel matters; midweek flights are traditionally cheaper than weekend flights. So make sure you take advantage of the time of day and the day of the week if you really want to save.

Traveling To Hawaii? 5 Important Tips

May 4th, 2009

Whether you are going on a family vacation, a spring break vacation with college friends, or even your honeymoon, Hawaii is a great place to visit at any time of year. While Hawaii is a great travel destination, you may want to know a bit about this place before you land. The following are some important tips that can help you have a great time while you are in Hawaii.
Tip #1 - No Touching a Nene - A Nene is the Hawaii state bird, and while they may look cute, they can be very defensive, especially if they have babies. These birds are also endangered species, so even if they look cute, touching or even approaching these birds are against the law. Be sure to keep this in mind when traveling to Hawaii or you may end up with a hefty fine.
Tip #2 - Get the Flower Lei Greeting - One of the most exciting experiences to enjoy in Hawaii is the flower lei greeting, but some vacation packages may not have this greeting included. Before you make your final arrangements for your trip, make sure that you will get the flower lei greeting when you land in Hawaii. It is a great experience and no trip to Hawaii is complete without it.
Tip #3 - Avoid Sunburn - When you are in Hawaii, chances are that you will be out in the sun a great deal. Many travelers forget to wear sunscreen and end up getting burned. It is best to wear sunscreen to prevent sunburn from occurring, but if you do end up with a burn, Aloe Vera gel and lidocaine are great for getting rid of the burn.
Tip #4 - Pack a Sweater or Jacket - While Hawaii is generally quite warm during the day time, at night it can get a bit cooler. You may want to pack a sweater or a light jacket when you go to Hawaii, just in case the night turns cool and you need something warmer to wear. If wearing a jacket is not your style, make sure you pack a few shirts that have longer sleeves and are a bit warmer than what you would usually wear during the day so you are comfortable during the evenings.
Tip #5 - Take an Umbrella - If you are visiting Hawaii between October and May, you will probably want to pack an umbrella. During this time of the year, Hawaii gets a great deal of rain, and although showers do not last long, more than likely you will get caught in one at some point. Unless you love walking or running in the rain, you will need to have an umbrella just in case.

Traveling To Benidorm From The Alicante Airport

May 4th, 2009

The Alicante International Airport is the main airport used for those traveling to the Alicante and Murcia areas. It is located in Elche, approximately five to six miles southwest of the city of Alicante, Spain. It is also a widely used airport by travelers visiting the Costa Blanca area and the number of flyers is continually increasing. Nearly nine million travelers fly into Alicante annually with eighty percent as international travel. Many of the flights are from the United Kingdom, Germany and Holland but this area is particularly a popular tourist destination for British travelers. The airport has come a long way since its inception in 1967. To meet the demand of its travelers, construction of its new terminal is projected to be completed in 2009.
Upon arrival at the airport, you will need to determine the best transportation method for you depending on where you are staying, how long you are staying and how much you anticipate traveling during your stay. You can choose the bus or a taxi, but you will not find a train since there is currently no train connecting at the Alicante airport. The bus, however, can take you to several destinations throughout Alicante and is reasonably priced. Buses operate from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. and run every forty-five minutes, with each ride lasting around forty minutes. Fortunately, the buses are air conditioned which will be appreciated during the hot summer weather. Many drivers do not speak English at all, but you will find that they are friendly and eager to help you get where you need to go.
Beyond Alicante, you can take the bus to northern Costa Blanca towns such as Benidorm which is approximately twenty-eight miles northeast of Alicante. From the airport, a bus ride to Benidorm takes about an hour and fifteen minutes and is more expensive because of the longer distance. This bus to Benidorm generally runs from 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. with each trip leaving every hour. You can also find bus routes available to Torrevieja, Denia and Murcia.
If you do not want to wait for a bus or prefer a car, there are taxis available. Some of the drivers also speak English, but all are very helpful. Obviously, the fare depends on how far your destination is, but another option is to have the taxi take you to the train station in Alicante. Though the train ride takes longer than other methods of transportation, it is a beautiful ride and a great opportunity to see the beautiful surroundings of Spain's Costa Blanca region.
